Barcelona y La Playa

One should always wear sunscreen when in Barcelona. I learned this the hard way. A few days ago I was a lovely shade of white. Today I resemble a lobster. But I love the beach!
Fun fact about European beaches. Clothing is optional... Yup, not such a fun sight. Apparently old people (no offense to the older people i still love you!) think it is okay to walk around without any clothes. IT IS NOT OKAY.
Some people, like Leisel, know how to come prepared to the beach so as not to get too sunburned.
Barcelona is a really cool city. As far as sights go there are not a ton of things to see but the things that there are to see are pretty darn cool. There are a lot of cool parks. There are actually a lot of parks! All cool in their own ways. My favorite park was Parc de la Ciutadella. It had a sweet fountain. Which unfortunately wasn't turned on but it was still pretty cool.
There was this small lake in the middle of the park and people could rent paddle boats and paddle around it. It was really pretty but there were lots of pigeons. I don't like pigeons.
One of the more famous parks is Parc Güell. This park is way sweet because there are a lot of mosaic things. Mosaic benches, walls, lizards, buildings, roofs, etc. It was super crowded with kids and people taking pictures but it was still fun.
Barcelona is known for it's cool architecture. A good example of this is the church La Sagrada Familia. This is an example of some cool gothic architecture.
Another example is the Barcelona Cathedral. There are random sculptures and whatnots throughout Barcelona.
Many of the crazy architecture stuff was done by a man named Antoni Gaudi. He was the one who designed La Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, Parc Güell and many others. Barcelona has a lot of modern art in its city.Something that is kind of crazy about Barcelona is that it has 2 official languages, Spanish and Catalan. On all of the signs in the metro there were 3 languages: Spanish, Catalan, and English. I thought that was very interesting. I loved Barcelona. I wish that SUU had a study abroad program to Barcelona. I would go there again any day, although this time I would bring sunscreen. Lots and lots of sunscreen.
